ERAA: Exercise Right Active Ageing Program

Subsidised exercise classes for over 65

75% of Australians aged 65 and over are not sufficiently active. Physical activity is particularly important as we get older for maintaining energy levels, increasing joint movement, preventing, or managing mental health problems (by reducing stress and anxiety), and improving mood and memory function.

Australians over 65 can benefit from subsidised group exercise classes thanks to the Exercise Right for Active Ageing,  a national government funded program designed specifically for this age group. The program is open to inactive older Australians over 65. Indigenous Australians who are over 55 can also enrol in the program. You must complete a pre-screening assessment prior to commencing the classes; this can be completed over the phone or via video.

The program aims to help you:

  • Move more through affordable exercise classes led by university qualified professionals
  • Improve your quality of life and overall health
  • Connect with like-minded people in a fun and friendly setting

Each participant may be eligible for:  Each participant is eligible to 1 free group class, free pre-screening & pre-assessment, 12 weekly group sessions, and a free post-assessment.

Cost: Pre-assessment: $18.50; Weekly group class: $8; Post-assessment: Free
